A leaked audio tape of a telephone conversation between two governors has surfaced – where two PDP governors – Nyesom Wike of Rivers State in the south-south zone and Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State in the south-west zone are clearly heard mocking the Nigerian Army . . .
SaharaReporters obtained the exclusive audio of a telephone conversation between Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and his counterpart in Ekiti State, Governor Ayodele Fayose, in which both men discussed Wike’s sharp maneuvers during the December 10, 2016 rerun of legislative elections in Rivers State.
In the leaked telephone conversation between the two governors, clearly discernible, audible and recognizable voices of the two men were heard having an excited conversation about how Gov. Wike stormed a collation center during the Rivers election rerun.
The tone of the exchanges (implicating conversation) makes it clear that Wike’s aim was to manipulate the results of the elections in favor of his candidates. In a tone that shows how he out-maneuvered the Nigerian Army, Wike declares in the conversation that, “Nigeria Army does not exist again.” and Gov. Fayose cheerfully and agreeably concurred with his affable companion.
In what appeared to be a confessional, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State (photo: right) has told Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State (photo: left) how he used his office to influence the election rerun in his state.
As if to show utmost contempt for the Nigerian State, Governors Fayose and Wike thrashed the Nigerian Army, describing it in despicable terms.
The two governors are members of the Peoples Democratic Party, on whose platform they were elected into office in Port Harcourt and Ekiti respectively.
Reports of deaths and injuries during the Rivers rerun are legion. The rerun election was marred by violence and horrendous electoral malpractices in unprecedented political/social conditions akin to a war zone.
DSS edited my phone conversation with Wike – Fayose
The Ekiti State governor Ayo Fayose blamed the Department of State Services (DSS) for leaking an edited copy of his telephone conversation with the governor of Rivers State Nyesom Wike to incriminate him and Wike.
Fayose said in a statement through Lere Olayinka, his special assistant on public communications and new media:
“If the President and his hatchet men in the DSS, EFCC and other federal government agencies do not know what to do other than to record phone conversations of their perceived political foes, they should just resign and save the country from this harrowing experience,”
An online medium, SaharaReporters, on Thursday, published an audio tape in which Wike confessed to how he used his position as the governor of the state to influence the outcome of the bloody December 10 Rivers rerun polls.
In the audio recording, unbeknownst to the two governors, Gov. Wike is clearly and unmistakably heard boasting about his criminal exploits during the Rivers rerun election.
