SOUTH-SOUTH COORDINATOR BUHARI VANGUARD, HON. ROMEO BEKEYEI, URGES PEACE ACROSS NIGERIA AND A TOTAL DISREGARD OF THE ULTIMATUM, AND CALL FOR IGBO EVACUATION BEFORE OCTOBER 1, BY SOME NORTHERN YOUTH AND ELDERS. . .

In a communiqué issued in Abuja by the Buhari Vanguard South-South, the coordinator stated:
After the civil war and up till date, our emotions have never been tilted towards any other unrest and bloodshed. It will never. I listened to the few northern youths who issued that press briefing and I have come to one stand which I have always propagated – that peace, unity and Faith in the project Nigeria, as one indivisible entity, shall reign supreme – and must always reign supreme.
The igbos need I say, have built industries and houses across NIGERIA, north inclusive, because of their belief in one country and their industriousness.
We do not entertain war, nor violence or any sort of threat for vacation to any ethnic or tribal group. Today, we at BUHARI VANGUARD, hereby call on the Presidency of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and all other key northern stakeholders, as well as every Nigerian of strong reputation, of goodly character to come out in the strongest of terms to disown, and debunk the unholy and unworthy press briefing. This is certainly not the time for such inflammatory statements.
We believe in the IGBO man. We believe in the Yoruba man and we believe in the Hausa man, plus we believe in the other ethnic or tribal groups all over Nigeria. That the igbos have called for secession did not put forward any call for northern eviction from the East. That there was a civil war does not mean that the igbos will bear the blame for it, alone. The nation state Nigeria – as presently constituted – is to blame for the civil war, and Nigeria is required, as a constitutional requirement, to work together for peaceful cohabitation and progress.
Let us never forget the unrelenting efforts of our heroes past, who fought for our Independence. They did it with their blood. Need we now with our true conscience forget their fight and push for an unworthy call? This is not in our character. We are one. One we remain.
More prayers for NIGERIA. More prayers for our peace and unity in this Nation, Nigeria.
– Hon. Romeo Bekeyei, South-South Coordinator Buhari Vanguard
